Vario Basic
Project Status: In Development
Pilots flying unpowered ultralight aircraft need to be sensitive to ascending and descending currents of air, so they often fly with a device called a Variometer which uses audio tones to inform the pilot of their climb or sink rate. Designed for paragliders, this device targets entry-level, tandem, and experienced pilots who want an inexpensive or backup variometer which fits in a tiny form factor that they can’t forget to charge. The Vario Basic combines barometer and accelerometer data to provide rapid vertical velocity feedback to the pilot, while intentionally eschewing unnecessary bells and whistles to ensure simplicity and cost effectiveness.
